Property law solicitor builds on success at Clarke MairsA solicitor is building on her career success after being promoted by Newcastle commercial law firm Clarke Mairs.
Katy Stothard, 26, from Wooler in Northumberland, has joined the firm’s growing commercial property law department as a fully qualified solicitor after completing her two-year training period with the firm. Katy studied law at Oxford University before returning to the North East to undertake her Bar Vocational Course at Northumbria University. She decided to convert to being a solicitor and was delighted to be offered the chance to train at Clarke Mairs. She said: “I’ve really enjoyed my training at Clarke Mairs and have been impressed by the quality of the commercial work there. “Everyone at the firm is very friendly and there’s an excellent working environment. Once they offered me the opportunity to stay, I was delighted to accept.” Within the growing property law department, Katy works on commercial property transactions, leases, leasehold enfranchisement applications, property litigation and conveyancing. She said: “I’ve always been very interested in property law. I enjoyed studying it at university and when I qualified I was asked to stay on in that department.” Tim Clarke, senior partner at Clarke Mairs, said: “We were very impressed with Katy’s hard work and dedication to clients during her training with us and we are confident that she will be a great asset to our team. Katy’s great enthusiasm and interest in property law is always reflected in her high standard of work.” There’s no doubt that Katy is building her property law career on strong foundations at Clarke Mairs, but outside of work she swaps property law for horse-riding and enjoys eventing, showjumping and dressage competitions. |
