Clarke Mairs partner rides for EnglandWe’d like to congratulate Gillian Bassett, partner at Clarke Mairs, on representing England at a national riding show!
Gillian was selected to ride at the British Senior Home International Dressage competition held at Rowallan Riding Centre, Glasgow, from October 16-18. The benefits of being selected included taking part in weekend training with some top trainers at a weekend camp near Hull. There was coaching support on hand from a sports psychologist to help with any competition nerves. Gillian rode her 17.1 hands six year old Belgian Warmblood, Djerko Van de Pluimert (Bunny to his friends!) at preliminary level. Her eight year old 16.3 Irish Sport Horse Rathvara (Dan) was reserve at elementary level. Gillian represented England and rode on the Northern Team which entitled her to wear the St George's Cross - for the duration of the competition only! Representatives also competed from Wales, Ireland and Scotland. Gillian said: “The ultimate victors, on their home ground, were Scotland who celebrated in style with champagne and Irn Bru but a good time was had by all over the three day competition.” Well done Gillian! |
