Newcastle-based Clarke Mairs is delighted with its recent success in the Legal 500, which saw its insolvency team ranked, yet again, as a mid-tier firm.

Also, for the second year running, Susan Mairs was named as a Leading Individual – the only insolvency and corporate recovery solicitor in the North of England included.

Clarke Mairs hits above its professional weight, and is delighted that three of its partners in the insolvency team are singled out for praise.

The firm is described as “an excellent firm, which provides a first-class and superb service”, attracting praise for its “knowledge, practicality, approachability and friendliness”.

Its insolvency litigation work was particularly recommended, with Fred Banning being described as “brilliantly impressive”. Fred Banning is a solicitor advocate with higher rights of audience and, while a commercial litigator, he often assists insolvency clients.

The ranking in Legal 500 comes hot on the heels of something else Clarke Mairs has recently celebrated – its 10-year anniversary. Over the last decade, Clarke Mairs has been delighted with the steady growth of the firm, having brought about the need to relocate in 2013.

The key to growth has been, undoubtedly, having the right people on board – great lawyers are a given, but also ones who probe and ask the right questions to pinpoint their client’s needs and tailor their advice accordingly.

It is extremely pleasing to see the firm receive such well-deserved recognition, particularly when the recommendations are from peers and clients. From the outset Clarke Mairs has been extremely well regarded for property, company commercial, litigation and insolvency but over the years, as gaps grew in the market and its client base extended, other departments grew.

For example, Clarke Mairs now has a thriving private client department led by two lawyers who are both full members of STEP.

Clarke Mairs has continually invested in its business, not just in strengthening the depth of the firm but also with a recent rebranding, new website and new IT infrastructure.

Clarke Mairs’ 10-year milestone, and the continued recognition in Legal 500, is a great opportunity, it says, to thank everyone who works in the firm for their hard work and dedication. It also wishes to thank all its clients and referrers of work – they do not take it for granted and it is greatly appreciated.

The firm continues to strive for the best outcomes for each and every client and remains focused on continuing to deliver the first class service for which they have been praised.
